A custom display box is retail-ready packaging that ships product and merchandises it in the same unit. Counter display units (CDUs), shelf-ready packaging (SRP) and power wings all open or tear away to present stock face-out at the point of sale without a store associate repacking anything.
Display packaging is measured by two numbers retailers care about: how many seconds it takes to get from pallet to shelf, and how much facing it occupies. A well-designed SRP tray goes shelf-ready in under five seconds with one tear line, which is why major grocery and pharmacy chains write it into their supplier specs.
Structurally these are usually E- or B-flute corrugated with a litho-laminated printed face. The board has to survive transit fully loaded and then look like point-of-sale material once opened, so the perforation geometry — where the tear line sits relative to the load-bearing corners — is the critical engineering detail.
Counter display units live near tills and win on impulse. Their economics are different from shelf packaging: a CDU that holds 12–24 units and refills from a case pack behind the counter often outperforms shelf space many times its footprint for low-price impulse SKUs.

The construction decides how the box closes, how much it protects and what it costs. These are the formats we produce most often for custom display boxes.
Small tray or tiered unit sited at the till for impulse SKUs.
Tear-away transit case that becomes a shelf tray in one motion.
Narrow side-of-gondola display for cross-merchandising.
Full-height corrugated unit with header card and multiple shelves.
Every order is cut to your interior dimensions — these are the sizes customers request most often, and a useful starting point if you are not sure where to begin.
| Size (L × W × D) | Typical use |
|---|---|
| 9 x 6 x 4 in | Counter unit for 12 small SKUs |
| 12 x 8 x 5 in | Counter unit for 24 units, confectionery and cosmetics |
| 15 x 10 x 6 in | Shelf-ready tray for grocery case packs |
| 18 x 12 x 8 in | Large SRP and half-pallet trays |
| 24 x 16 x 60 in | Floor-standing display with header card |
Most chains publish tray depth, facing height and tear-line rules. Building without them causes rejections.
A perforated case must still survive a full pallet stack. Ask for a compression check.
FSDU headers are read from 3–5 m. Two words and a logo beat a paragraph.
A CDU only performs if there is a case pack behind the counter to restock it.
We manufacture for brands in 24 markets. Prices below are for one pack of 50 boxes at the standard specification. Delivery is free everywhere except Japan, where air freight is quoted separately.

The headline price includes local VAT or GST where that market requires it. If you are VAT-registered you reclaim that, so the excl. tax column is your real cost. US and Canadian prices add sales tax at invoicing instead. Volume pricing improves at 250, 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 units — see wholesale custom boxes for the volume tiers.
